This little gem showed up on a local FB buying and selling page.
2WD and needs some work, but the heat and AC work and $1500 seems like a good price.
I already have seven cars in the household and my garage is currently MIA...
What do we think Oppo?
UPDATE: Had an appointment to take a look at 6:30. Guy came by at 6:00 and bought it. I can safely say I’m relieved.

Don’t buy it, 7 is too many. If you want it badly enough off one of your vehicles for it. Is this front or rear wheel drive by the way?

My soft limit is 16 and I personally only own 5 (though one is for sale).
Front drive, I assume.

“Out of.” “In to.” What’s the difference?

do not buy this

There is a reason it’s 1500$. It isn’t street legal. It’s not 25 year, hasn’t been imported as a car but as “farm equipement” and can only be used on secondary roads within your county. So it’s cool if you don’t plan to really drive it...

The only thing that these have going for them is that they may be somewhat rare in your area, but that doesn’t really make them desirable. It’ll grow old pretty fast and you will be stuck with a vehicle with a very limited market. It’s not even a good lawn ornament. Nothing beats a Trans Am on cinder blocks in that category.

A marriage, if you’re not careful.

You 100% definitely, shouldn’t NOT buy that.
Does that help?

Interesting, I hadn’t thought of that! It has normal looking Oklahoma plates on it...
Yeah, if I can’t drive it on the road it is 100% dead to me.

There are a number of these in NW Montana, I assume they are over 25 years old or are registered as an ATV.

the other thing is good luck sourcing parts for it.

You know you want it. Go buy it.
Did I do it right?

I did check that and it looks like there are a couple of specialist websites.
That is one of the things that scared me away from buying a N600. $40 special order oil filters, NOS. No new ones being made, iirc.

I can’t, mini trucks are dope.
Do it

Yeah keitrucks status is a bit of a mess in the US... Lots of pissed off people who have been sold farm equipement when they thought they were buying regular registrable cars. When buying an imported car, always ask for the NHTSA and EPA form. If they don’t have it -> illegally imported.

He could always move to Canada - the little fellas of that generation are perfectly legal here! :D
![]() 07/06/2017 at 20:22 |
|
Actually it wouldn’t, and that’s the trick with illegal import too... It’s not a car anymore. It’s a farm equipment. It wouldn’t be properly exported a therefore wouldn’t have the necessary paperwork to be correctly imported in Canada.
![]() 07/06/2017 at 20:45 |
|
No no, I don’t mean THAT one, specifically...I know that one would be illegal here because of the tampering.
I just mean most kei trucks of that generation (those Hondas included) are imported here to Canada as perfectly road legal trucks because we only have the 15 year import rule! :)

Oh yes of course, any other one would be fine :)
Unless you’re in QC, then it’s different lol

There was a garage down the road that had an Acty of that gen as a mini tow truck...mostly promotional, but they would use it to retrieve side-by-sides and ATVs from local trails when they broke or got stuck. Eventually they parked it in front of their shop for like 4 years and it disappeared. I stopped and looked at it once and it wasn’t even in bad shape....a shame, I would’ve bought it for cheap instead of letting it go to the scrapper! :(

buy it!

All keitrucks are RWD or 4WD...

Instructions unclear, I advise you to buy it.

It most likely has a plate welded over its gearbox limiting it to 1st and 2nd gear as well, because of the farm equipment/25 year rule. But if you do decide to get it, www.superminitrucks.com is a neat website for parts

In th mid 2005 when gas was 5.00+ these became really popular amonst farmers. A number of states, OK, Kansas there were loopholes to register them as Flavien mentions as farm equipment. It didn’t take long for the feds to notice an oddly large number being shipped from Japan. States were also annoyed for a few other reasons.
